Megaohm Hackerspace
A space of freedom and creativity — explore, share and tinker with technology.

Technology has evolved — not only in a good way. But technology is a tool: it can elevate or enslave humanity. We are passionate about technology and critical about the way it is being misused, which is why we have decided to put our energies into this new endeavor.
We are opening a space of freedom and creativity in Biel/Bienne where we can gather and join our forces to tackle problems affecting society as a whole: data retention, censorship and control on the Internet, and other important civil-rights issues in the digital space.
We want to explore, by doing, the potential of new technologies — gaining deep knowledge to be shared in order to benefit the vast majority of us.
If you like tinkering with any form of technology and enjoy sharing your thoughts and your hands in order to make a change, then join us!
Share, discover, learn, teach, exchange, create.
Hacker Ethics
Our community is guided by the fundamental principles of hacker ethics:
- Access to computers — and anything which might teach you something about the way the world really works — should be unlimited and total.
- All information should be free.
- Mistrust authority — promote decentralisation.
- Hackers should be judged by their acting, not bogus criteria such as degrees, age, race, or position.
- You can create art and beauty on a computer.
- Computers can change your life for the better.
- Don’t litter other people’s data.
- Make public data available; protect private data.
What we believe
We believe in the power of open collaboration, hands-on learning, and the democratisation of technology. Our space serves as a hub for:
- Learning and education: workshops, tutorials, and knowledge sharing.
- Innovation and creation: project development and experimentation.
- Community building: bringing together like-minded individuals.
- Digital-rights advocacy: promoting privacy, security, and freedom online.
